God's people have always been characterized by giving, but the way they've given has changed over time. For example, people no longer bring goats, sheep, calves, and grain to God as they did in the Old Testament. Giving money is simpler, cleaner, and theologically sounder since Jesus has made the ultimate sacrifice.
At Springs, we do not take an offering during the service. There is a box for giving located at the rear of the Sanctuary. We ask that your gifts be placed in the box.
We also have small giving boxes for the local ministries we support that are placed in the Narthex on one Sunday each month, along with a box for The Covenant Children's Home.
Giving is an important aspect of the Christian life. After all, Luke records that Jesus himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35). At Springs, we want to encourage all members to pray about giving and act as God leads them.
Given that many older members are in our congregation, I wanted to mention a tax-advantaged way to financially contribute to SPC.If you have an IRA or 401(k) that requires you to take a required minimum distribution (RMD), there is a way that you can contribute directly to the church from that account. It is called a qualified charitable distribution (QCD).You can tell your administrator to contribute directly to the church. This applies to your RMD, but it is not taxable as income. You cannot, however, deduct the contribution as an itemized expense. If you have any questions, please see Bob Hazen or contact the administrator of your fund.
